Something About Lillix

Maybe I'm just getting old,
but the adorable Lillix modeling my
Pillowcase Capri Romper
actually tears to my eyes!
There is something about her...
she just exudes innocence, somehow...

The one above "got" me...

and then this one finished me off!

Just precious!!

Is it just me, or does this expression remind you somehow
of Aunt Bethany at the very end of this 3-second clip?
No? Hunh. Must just be me.

But you gotta admit,
there IS just something about Lillix!

Momshot Poll

What's a "momshot"? It's simply a photo taken by a mom.
It's not necessarily a terrible picture.
It just looks like something you could take yourself.
Bad lighting, uninspired poses...
they're usually pretty easy to spot.

The little girls who model for me
get to keep the clothes I make them.
In return, I get nice photos to help me sell my products online.
Customers who shop online purchase items based on the photo.
Stands to reason, since they can't see the actual item. Right?

So far, two of my little models have done FABULOUS shoots.
One, not so much.
Look at the following pictures and then
vote in the poll at the top of the right column.

You be the judge. Can you find the momshots?

Hmmmm. How 'bout another set?

Check back after the poll closes to see if you're right.
(Bet you are!!)

Be Careful What You Wish For...

Years ago, when Trevor (our younger son) was...oh, anywhere between 2 and 20 years old, I made this wish, "I hope someday you have a kid who is just as stubborn as you are! You deserve that!!" (The reason for the age range is that I expressed this hope repeatedly over those years. Child psychologists would have called Trevor "challenging". I called him a big pain in the butt neck. I didn't call him it to his face. I'm pretty sure I didn't.)

Anyway, while wishing this fate on him, I did not think it through enough to realize that I was also wishing it on another, totally-innocent person that I didn't even know at the time. Namely, Trevor's future wife, Sarah. Sarah, the mother of the future stubborn progeny.

Enter this adorable child.Seriously, COULD Zoey be any cuter?I think not.COULD she be any more stubborn?
That remains to be seen.
Miss Zoey is only 11 months old.
But that does not mean that Miss Zoey is a pushover.
Far from it.
Zoey loves to "type" on the computer.
She "types" while we webcam.
Just to aggravate her, Trevor will put his hand over the keyboard,
so that she can't get to it.
Zoey REPEATEDLY pushes his hand away and types like mad.
After a while, this starts to get "old".
Then Zoey HOLDS his hand out of the way
with one of her little hands
and types like mad with the other.
When THAT starts to get old...she SCREAMS. LOL
She is 11 months old and already showing her dad's stubbornness.
Her dad likes to call it "determination". LOL
Looks like I got my wish.
Sorry Trevor.
But even more...
SORRY, SARAH!!
COULD Zoey be any more stubborn?
Only time will tell.

Blessings, Part One

Well, Blogger thinks I have way too many pictures
in this post, so I'm going to break it
into two posts. This is part one.
NO, not like "The BLESSSS-ing!!"
although that is pretty dang funny.

What am I talking about? Well, our house was built in 1987.
That makes all our major appliances
(air conditioner, hot water tank, etc.) 24 years old.
Yeah, you guessed it.
The AC guy was just here.
We need a new unit. That is not cheap.

Plus, the hot water tank is leaking...
we need one of those, too.

Aaaannnd, our flooring
in the kitchen/living room/dining room is shot.

I guess I could just rail against how awful all this is.
But instead, I'm counting my blessings:
1

2

3

4

5, 6, 7

Blessings, Part Two

8

9

10

11

12

13

14

That's right off the top of my head.
Of course, there are more.
Like my health, my good friends,
the fact that I have a house, food, job...

How about you?
Have you counted your blessings?

GREAT Pics!!!!

I am SO excited!!!
Check out some of the AWESOME pictures of Madison modeling our
Reversible Tunic, Ruffle Capris, Flutterbye Wand and Ponytail Boppers!!
We have picture shoots scheduled with 3 other little models.
I just LOVE sewing these clothes!!!!
I made the little banner hanging on the tree, too.
Do you love the pics?
Stay tuned!!

These garments are made with top-quality fabrics, including Michael Miller's Ta-Dot, which I just LOVE. Reversible Tunic Top can be ordered in dress length and can later be worn as a top, so it grows with your daughter through a couple of sizes.
It's also adorable over a t-shirt, with different bottoms, etc.

Reality Check

Yesterday was a pretty aggravating day. We are in the process of tearing up the flooring in our kitchen/hall/half bath/foyer. We're trying to decide what to put down instead. We are looking for something durable, not horribly expensive and not real thick, so that we don't have to run around and cut off doors to accommodate the new flooring. It was almost 100 degrees here yesterday and it was not fun to spend hours running around to flooring and home improvement stores. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself.

Then, this morning, I received an email that jolted me into remembering what's important in life. Believe me, I get LOTS of organizations asking me to donate items for fundraisers. But this one stopped me in my tracks.

It's just unthinkable. They are trying to raise money to deal with the expenses of the adorable baby's sudden and unexpected death.

Click here for the Facebook page.

You better believe I donated an item.

PLEASE VOTE!!

Please vote at the top right!!
I have issues. LOL, if you've been reading this for a while, then you probably realize that. Long story short, I created this new Funky Green Bird logo:

Way back in April, I contacted a graphic artist to have her draw a new logo for Soggy Bottoms Baby Duds. Let me just say that it was a very frustrating process and it took over 70 emails (and over a month) to get her to complete this Blackbird in Tree logo:
Which do you like better?
I put a poll up at the top of the right column.
Please vote for which logo your fave...
Funky Green Bird or Blackbird in Tree!! I need HELP!!!
(But you knew that, LOL!)

Justice for Caylee

I know I said I would not tell you my theories about what happened to poor Caylee Anthony. So if you're sick of the trial, you may as well click away, because I really do need to get it off my chest.

There are two types of evidence, direct and circumstantial. They are considered equally valid. After all, most murderers are smart enough not to kill someone in a crowd of witnesses, so MOST murders are solved by piecing together circumstantial evidence.
Casey at a 4th of July party while her baby girl decomposed in a swamp

The problem in this case was really twofold. One, the jury did not really understand their instructions and the definitions of some of the legal terms, such as reasonable doubt. And two, the jury did not take the time necessary to really go through the evidence piece by piece. They were sick of having their lives disrupted and rather than wade into six weeks' worth of evidence, they just went with their surface understanding and most importantly, with their gut feeling.

George Anthony

They did not like George Anthony and they thought he was lying on the stand, especially when he said he didn't have a mistress. I agree - he was definitely lying about the mistress. SO WHAT? There was NO evidence that he did anything to Caylee. And there was a mountain of evidence that Casey did something to Caylee.

Scott Peterson

Remember Scott Peterson, who is on death row for killing his pregnant wife, Laci and therefore, their unborn baby boy, Connor? Guess what! His case was solved by piecing together circumstantial evidence. No one knows how Laci died, either, but that jury was smart enough to listen to their instructions and understand that it does not matter HOW the victim died. It only matters who killed her.
Laci (and Connor) Peterson

I don't think 8-month pregnant Laci threw herself into the bay, although I guess that's theoretically possible. I don't think Caylee drowned in her pool and was bagged up and thrown away by her doting grandpa. I live with a doting grandpa, and I can tell you that is not a reasonable possibility.

Casey Anthony claims Caylee drowned. Her reaction was that she spent 31 days living it up and lying through her teeth. The afternoon of her child's death, she went to rent videos and then spent the next day in bed with her boyfriend. Casey never did report her child missing. I don't care what a grief expert says, this is not grief.
Casey in a hot body contest while her baby girl decomposed in a swamp

I could go on and on, but let me just finish with this: cadaver dogs don't lie. They don't get together to frame innocent people. They hit on her trunk and they hit in the backyard of their house after Casey had borrowed a shovel from a neighbor. I think Casey planned to pull up the pavers in the playhouse and bury Caylee under there. But digging is WAY harder than you would think, so she wound up staging a kidnapping by wrapping duct tape around her dead baby's head and throwing her in a swamp.
Gerus, one of the cadaver dogs in this case.

The only thing that makes this bearable is this: I really do believe that what goes around, comes around. Casey - I, for one, will be watching for karma to catch up with you.
It's only a matter of time.
