Goodreads.com...More Evidence That I Live Under A Rock

Gollum lives under a rock, too, so I'm in good company.

You probably already know about Goodreads.com. I just stumbled upon it the other day and

IT IS AWESOME.

Finally, a way to keep track of books I've read, books I'd like to read and especially books I've started reading and hated.

Maybe the BEST feature is that Goodreads recommends books for you based on your ratings of books you've read. You can click "not interested" to help Goodreads fine-tune its suggestions. CLICK HERE to check it out!

OMG, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!??

So I made and shipped this adorable (if I do say so myself) zippered owl wristlet for a customer. Just adorable.

The customer is in Havertown, PA.
UNFORTUNATELY, THE ADORABLE OWL
FLEW TO PUERTO RICO.

I'll be taking the receipt, which clearly states HAVERTOWN, PA, to the post office. Delivery confirmation. No insurance, of course.

I have more of the purple fabric, but I used the last bit of that cute wing fabric...

ARGGHHHH. I'll keep you posted. Pun intended.

Stuff that Makes Me Mad, Part Three - Ridiculous Runway Fashion

I hope to God they did not kill an animal for those.

Okay, I may just be a Target-clothes-buying plebe, but I would not buy a "hat" in the basket department. Fashion designers are making millions by designing stuff that no NORMAL person is ever going to wear. I wonder if there's an inside joke to see how ridiculous they can get and still have reviewers call them geniuses.

Called It Macarooni

Question:

Answer:
Invent a cookie recipe.

Actually, I put a new spin on Tidy Mom's recipe. And I'm calling it Macarooni. Like, macaroons are made with coconut. And like Yankee Doodle stuck a feather in his cap and called it macaroni. (I teach kindergarten and it shows.)

These cookies are soft, chewy, coconut-y and EASY! Here's the recipe.

Macarooni

1 pkg Duncan Hines Coconut Supreme Cake Mix
1 8oz container of Cool Whip
1 egg
1 large bag shredded coconut

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, stir to combine the cake mix, Cool Whip and egg.
The batter will be really sticky.

Drop by spoonful into a bowl of coconut.
Roll into a ball, shake off extra coconut and put on parchment paper.
They spread a little, so don't crowd them.

Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
Cool on wire racks.

NOTE: Bake shorter if you want them softer and chewier; bake longer if you want a little more 'bite'.

Pinterest - Control Where Your Pins Lead

Okay, maybe everyone on Pinterest already knows this. And if you're not on Pinterest, I'm sure you don't care, LOL. But if you don't and you do, I just figured out how to make sure your pins lead back to where you want.

For example, I had this Make It PINK Treasury (curated by Roxanna of DreamingTreeBeads) that included one of my owls. The picture was stored in my Picasa/Google album:

Cute, no?

I wanted to pin it on Pinterest, but when people click the pin, I wanted it to lead back to the actual treasury, rather than to my album on Picasa.

Anyway, it's really simple to do, so here you go:
1. Go to wherever you want the pin to lead and copy the URL.
2. Go pin whatever it is as you normally would.
3. Click on See It Now.
4. Click on Edit.
5. Where it says Link, paste in the URL you copied.
6. Click Save Pin and WA-LA, you're done!!

Try it. It works!
