Crockpot Baked Potatoes

Thought I'd pass this Budget Savvy Diva recipe along, in case you've never tried it. Basically, scrub 6-12 large russet potatoes (my medium crockpot held 8 potatoes), prick the skins, rub with olive oil, salt/pepper to taste, wrap each potato in aluminum foil and pop them into the crockpot on low for like 8-9 hours. Wa-la, no need to heat up your oven in this blasting summer heat.

This is not one of my potatoes. I was too hungry to take pictures.

Try to keep the potatoes all relatively the same size, or at least take the smaller ones out when they feel done. (Put on an oven mitt and give them a gentle squeeze.) If you let the little ones stay in till the big ones are done, the insides of the smaller ones turn that weird pinkish color (although they still taste okay.)

Hope you're enjoying your weekend and thanks for dropping by!

I'm BACK!

Avery wearing his "Melmo" shirt that I made him. He's equally obsessed with trucks and Elmo, so Nannie fixed him right up.
Did you miss me?? We went to SC to visit Avery, Rachel and Travis and Avery's soon-to-be baby sister.

What a GREAT time we had!! We went to the beach at Kiawah, where famous rich people like Dan Marino (retired NFL quarterback) and Ray Allen (Shooting Guard, Boston Celtics) hang out.
This is just a stock photo of Kiawah beach.
Avery had a blast at the beach!

We also took the dogs to the dog park twice. It was so wonderful to see poor previously-abused Harvey coming out of his shell to act almost like a normal dog.

We watched two movies (Man on a Ledge was awesome, and Safe House was good, too), visited with Rachel's parents (always fun) and went on countless walks with Avery.

I stuffed myself with Rachel's good cooking and gorged on the killer mac and cheese I'd been craving from Home Team BBQ.
I bought a quart of their delicious mac and cheese to go and ate the ENTIRE THING myself. Did not gain a single pound. Did I mention that I have a great metabolism?

And each night after Travis' wife and my husband both conked out, I got to hang out with my first-born and watch him putt on his new putting green that he built from scratch.

The best time EVER. And now the good news is that we're going to see the CT crew soon!

Rumor has it that Nannie has been sewing like a fiend, creating cute skirts and dresses for Zoey...

OH NO, Daddy's Girl!

Our granddaughter, Zoey has our son, Trevor
wrapped around her little finger.

The sun rises and sets on his little girl.

She's usually happy and ready for fun.
Personality galore.
Notice the "secret bird" with her right hand, LOL.

Can you imagine how Trevor's heart must have been pounding
when he walked into the hospital room to see this?!

Pitiful.

Zoey's mommy had called him at work (ESPN) in a panic.
Zoey had a fever and was having trouble breathing.
He told Sarah to take her to the hospital IMMEDIATELY.

The call came in at 11:14 PM.
Trevor was at the hospital by 11:22 PM.
I doubt that he followed all the traffic laws.

He hadn't even stopped to tell his supervisor he was leaving,
but just called him from the parking lot to say he was gone.

Thankfully, the story has a happy ending.
Zoey had a fever of 104 and was diagnosed with the croup.

She was released the next morning and is on the mend.

And I think her daddy's blood pressure has finally
returned to normal.

Cool design from Jessica at Me Sew Crazy. She actually did this with a glitter sheet to make a top for her daughter...
