OMG, are those korker ribbons not hilarious, LOL?!
They make me happy, just looking at them!
Will have more pics for you as soon as
my little model has her photo shoot.
I'm mailing the tote to her this morning.

And I thought these turned out cute, too.I'm steering away from bibs and burpies,
but these were for a coworker.

I need to run so I can mail the tote before work...

Hoppin'!

Hi, things are hoppin' around here, so I wanted to take a second to say that if you don't hear from me a lot this weekend, that's why. I have a tote, 2 bibs, a monogrammed tooth pillow and 2 banners to complete. And when I say 2 banners...one is 16 pennants long and it's the style where each pennant takes 45 minutes!!!!!! Is that even mathematically possible to complete in one weekend, if I factor in sleep?? LOL Let's not talk about the fact that Avery is here and I haven't even STARTED his quilt!!!!!!! I did make him several blankets, though...

We also have all the typical back-from-vacation stuff...laundry, mail to open, etc.

Oh, and don't forget that the studio will be shut down tomorrow night so that I can watch our Steelers in the Super Bowl with hubs.

So what about you? Doing anything fun this weekend?

Will Pictures Make Up?

For the fact that it's been forever since I posted?! I have been in a total frenzy of trying to crank things out for the craft show. I think I'll try to just post a picture or two as often as I can and maybe just enough text to explain what you're looking at.

The first pic is a pile of 'paci pods', which are little zippered pouches to keep extra pacifiers clean.

The next pic is a pile of crayon rolls.

And finally, a birthday shirt for a birthday girl!

I've got LOTS more pics to show you, so please check back. Thanks for hanging in there with me!!

Tote-ally Awesome

Okay, corny, but I had to. The first two are for the nieces of a co-worker. Dora is four years old, girly, "princess-y" and loves to dance. The colors are off in this picture...the pinks all actually look GOOD together, LOL:
Fofi (a nickname) is eleven-going-on-twenty, tomboy-ish, likes to ice skate and loves "cerulean, you know, that REALLY BRIGHT blue" (a quote by her aunt). I thought this revved-up bag might appeal to her preteen sensibilities. I think I nailed the blue color. It's actually much brighter in person!
I bought the blue fabric first, and I just couldn't believe it when I found that awesome ribbon in the EXACT shade of blue!

These next two pictures should look familiar - the bag is almost an exact replica of Addison's BOO bag. Would you believe it took a total of 23 emails between me and the lady who bought it (in my Etsy store) before we were sure MY mental vision for her daughter's tote matched HERS? Hope she likes it!

I'm glad you could stop by to visit! Come back tomorrow - I'll have more to show you!

Cute Little Frou-Frou Tote

For Addison. Mom wanted a ribbon closure...

That closeup is one bad pic. Even Picnik couldn't help. But you get the idea, anyway.

Come back tomorrow...I should have LOTS to show you! Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Not Just For Halloween

Hi, just popping in to show you the cute little tote I made today! Lydia will be using this for dance school, so it was important for it to be washable, since it will be getting a lot of use. I used regular cotton fabric in Lydia's current favorite color (blue) and reinforced it with Decor Bond to make it sturdier.
The little embroidered ballet shoes design was a good bit of work. I flipped it left-to-right so that I could write her name across the toes going uphill instead of downhill. Then I imported the letters for her name and had to resize and rotate each one separately and line them up at an angle over the toes.

I interfaced both pink fabrics before appliqueing them so that the blue background wouldn't shadow through and rob them of their vibrancy. And the design calls for the darker pink to be appliqued on TOP of the pink dot, but I wanted it to look like it was behind the pink dot instead. That took a couple of extra steps on the embroidery machine to accomplish, but I like the result.

I couldn't decide whether to add the rickrack, but my husband liked it, saying it sort of echoed the wavy shoelaces. (And YES, I did almost fall over when he said that, because usually he doesn't have a clue about that kind of stuff. But he was RIGHT! Shhh, don't tell him I said he was right - it will go to his head!)
The colors in the picture above are a bit salmon-y...the top picture is much more accurate. Anyway, after all that pink fanciness, the handles looked a little plain and blue. I found a delicate (WAVY, like the shoelaces and rickrack!!) decorative stitch on my sewing machine and dressed them up a little bit!
Now Lydia can use her brand-new tote tomorrow at dance class.

Back to school tomorrow and I hope we have GREAT news about keeping our kindergarten staff intact! Thanks for stopping by!

Boo to You!!

Just a couple of quick pics. These are totes that were ordered by staff at my school. The first one is just like Zoey's tote...except for the Lana part, of course. I just HAD to post it because I can't get enough of that witch hat font!
The second one was really fun to make! I was really happy that I was able to "stack" Addison's name across the ghost's arms.
Check out the little happy ghost - isn't he just the cutest thing? I made him with fleece, so he's fuzzy and kind of puffy. Between the 'crunchy' tulle and the fuzzy fleece, this bag will be a tactile delight for Addison! Oh, and she's a little bit of a Pink Princess, so I subbed in pink tulle in place of the red tulle I used in the orange bag. Hard to tell in the picture, though.
That's it for tonight. I've got another tote in the works, but this one is not a Halloween one. I'll try to post a picture of it tomorrow, if it's finished. Check back tomorrow night if you'd like to see it, and thanks for visiting!

Over-the-Top Halloween Tote!

I just finished this cute little tote for Zoey and I'm SO pleased with it! (YES, I realize the child is one day shy of ONE MONTH old, so she won't be carrying it this Halloween! Come to think of it, Zoey's mom can probably carry HER in the tote.) Can you tell it has strips of purple, red, orange, black and lime tulle sewn between the lining and the outer bag?
Check out the cute witch hat design! The lime green is much prettier in person than in the picture. The handles and the lining are both made with the fabric I used for the witch hat.

At least I have one big finish to show for my weekend, because I'm not sure how much sewing will get done tomorrow. Unfortunately, the Steelers game will not be on regular TV around here, so Mr. Rabid Steelers Fan and I will be heading to a sports bar to watch it. (We both hate going to sports bars. We're considering switching to Direct TV eventually so that we can get the NFL Sunday Ticket...)
Hope you like the little tote and thanks for stopping by!
