New Stuff!

Here's a little glimpse of what I've been up to!
I am really excited about our new polka-dotted bottle koozies.

I also whipped up a couple more of these owl cardholder/keychains:
Ridiculously cute!

And how cute are these Tooth Fairy Pillows for two little sisters:

This is way cuter in person - the turtle's shell is a nice, grassy green:

That bib and burpie about killed me.
The burpie embroidery was aaaaaallllmost done
when something went wrong and I had to start over. ARGHHH!!!!

And now you're going to have to put up with another proud Nannie moment!
ZOEY HAS PAINTED TOES!!! How cute is THAT?!
You can see by the blurriness of the picture that this was a real feat (bad pun intended) for Zoey's momma! Great job, Sarah! Nannie would have had polish all over Zoey's feet!

I'm so happy you could visit. Come back and see me soon!

A is for...

Hi, are you still there? I've been gone so long...just sewing away! We're in another Comment Game tomorrow and I've been trying to get a gazillion little things ready...I told my hubby that after tomorrow, things should settle down some. He just went, "Hmmmm." LOL

So...A is for Avery. Yes, it's my blog and you're going to have to put up with the proud Nannie thing. But really, isn't this the SWEETEST expression?! Try not to focus on the spitup on his chin, LOL. He LOVES his daddy!

And A is also for ARMY (or AIR FORCE, if I changed the colors). Show dad you are PROUD of him! And just in time for Father's Day, too!

This design is shown on a bib/burpie set, but we can put it on most anything...I'm doing a tote for the granddaughter of a coworker...also it could go on a t-shirt, onesie, etc. I can change the uniform colors and the colors of the wording. This uniform (even the little boots!) was made from genuine upcycled camo fabric.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope to be back WAY sooner than I was this time!!

Quickie Pic

Here's a bib and burpie combo I made today for a little one named Matthew.
Hope his parents like them! This is not a great pic...

I'm working on something SUPER cute! You definitely need to stop by tomorrow to see my latest creations! Here's a hint...they go with play (pretend) food.

Thanks for coming by and see you soon!

A Day Late

And a dollar short...the story of my life! We held evening conferences last night and I was really exhausted after I got home. I talked to 13 sets of parents...went over the same material (testing, reading levels, year-end K expectations) 13 times. At least all the conferences were positive and I don't seem to have any hostile parents. Yay!

So anyway, here are a couple more pics of my weekend output. I made 3 sets of bibs and burpies for a co-worker:

Isn't that turtle just the cutest thing?! Here's a closeup so you can see the edge detail under his shell:

Alright, off to school. And in a classic case of bad planning on our part, we have a field trip to a farm/pumpkin patch today. Bad timing...the teachers are all exhausted and there is the threat of a torrential downpour.

Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon, okay? And keep your fingers crossed for no rain!

OOPS!

No, it's not a mistake, it's the name of my latest creation...part of my "OOPS!" collection! I'll show you what I'm talking about in a second. First, the pic of the girly bib I told you about yesterday:
And now some Steelers flannel shaped burpies I made. In the interest of fairness, I made one for Zoey, too. Who says little girls can't be die hard Steelers fans!? I made Avery's with diamond topstitching to kind of match the "sparkles" in the Steelers logo and I made Zoey's with heart topstitching, just to soften it up a little. You might be able to see it if you click on the pic.
And now, for my OOPS! I'd wanted to use these cute stick figures playing sports and I got a sudden inspiration to do a visual pun. I think they're my favorite bibs so far! Let's not talk about how long they take to stitch out...they have like a million thread color changes. Here they are!
In the first one, you can see that the batter has hit a home run with both the ball and with Avery's name. Ideally, I could have flipped the batter so that he is batting lefty (like Avery's daddy), but I wanted to have the batter "hit" the last letters of Avery's name...not the first letters. Here's a closeup:
And in this one, Avery's name has been "stiff-armed" by the football player.
You may notice that the stick figure is wearing Steelers colors. I had no control over the jersey number...apparently, he is Dennis Dixon.
Not sure how much stiff-arming quarterbacks do, but there you have it.

That's it for today. I hope to have more to show you tomorrow night! For one thing, I do need to make burp cloths to match the OOPS bibs...
Thanks for stopping by!

What I've Been Up To

Unfortunately, much of what I worked on today can't be shown, since the items are surprises for various people. One thing I can show is another bib/burpie set I made for our grandson-to-be, Avery.
The ribbon says it all!

I also made these.
They're breast pads for a breastfeeding mom. Why are there FIVE, then?! They really do come in pairs...this is an 'in production' photo.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend! See you tomorrow!

What's In A Name?!

First, hippos doing ballet.
These were ordered for a mom-to-be who is keeping her baby girl's name a secret until she's born. Or for as long as the mom can stand it! That's the reason there is no name on the bib or burpie. No matter - the hippos are cute enough!

And now for the monkeys! On a bib and a shaped burpie I designed:
As you can see, the mom-to-be of this baby boy is NOT keeping his name a secret. And good thing, too, because I was about to bust a gut with waiting!! YES, it's our grandson-to-be...Avery!!!!
And his middle name is...
HINES!!!!
Was that big thud I just heard the sound of our great friends in Cleveland (who happen to be Cleveland Browns fans) keeling over at the thought of a Steeler middle name? It's just a name, right??

I am PROMISING to be back tomorrow with more cute stuff - I'm halfway through another set of bib-and-burpies and have another project I also hope to be able to show you tomorrow. Thanks for visiting!

What I Did This Weekend

First, I promised a friend that I'd post the pics of the little Christmas light hair clips that just about drove me NUTS...if I'd let the glue dry before trying to embroider over it, that would have helped.

I made some things this weekend that I don't have pictures of, but I CAN show you the two sets of bibs and burpies my friend Ann asked me to make. After making this first set, I've decided that baby blue has got to be the hardest color to match. There are just so many tiny variations in the amount of green in the blue- which is why the burpie is monogrammed in brown. I just couldn't find an embroidery thread that wasn't either too green or too blue.
And then here is the other set. I just LOVE the monkeys (but if you've read this blog for a while, you knew that already.)
You will probably be seeing a lot more baby blue, and a LOT more cute jungle animals. Check out the Silly Safari bedding that Rachel has picked out for our grandson-to-be, little January. (Not his name...his due date.) I just LOVE that bedding!!

Oh, and one more thing...my husband and I made a ribbon storage rack!! This is possibly not as exciting to you as it is to me. If you saw the state of my ribbon collection right now, you'd understand. As soon as the rack is painted and dry, I'll load up the ribbons and snap a pic for you.

That's it for tonight. Thanks for stopping by to visit!

Excitement!

I'm SO EXCITED!!! We have moved up our departure time to go see Zoey!! Our house-sitter was able to adjust and we are OUT OF HERE as of tomorrow!! I am not sure I'll be able to post from my 'remote' location - I'm sure it will be hard to type while holding my granddaughter. And I plan to be holding my granddaughter pretty much constantly.

In the meantime, here is a bib/burpie combo I did for Zoey's mom's friend's little boy.

I combined a couple of designs. I just love this wizard frog! It seemed appropriate. Oliver is a very early preemie and I think he must be a magical little boy, to be doing so well!

On the burpie, I added a couple of magical sparkles and I prevented the embroidery machine from stitching out the frog so that I could hang his hat on the "O".

Here are the pictures that I promised you yesterday- Zoey's quilt! The front (admittedly, not a stellar picture):

The back:

A closeup:

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll try to touch base if I can and if I can't, you'll know my arms are just too full!

Bib and Burpie Combo

Just a quickie post today. Since I received an order for a burp cloth and bib set, I didn't get to work on my GIVEAWAY handbag. As soon as I post this, I'm off to cut the fabric for the bag!

I thought you might be interested to see the new method I used to make the burp cloth, courtesy of the ultra-nice Mrs. Goodneedle From the Strawberry Patch. My equally nice friend Linda sent me a link to Mrs. Goodneedle's tutorial and I fell in love with how she bound the edges of her burp cloths! I decided to try it on this customer's order for little James. I'm really pleased with the results!
As usual, my photography skills are not the best. The diaper is bound in red, which you can kind of tell if you look at the upper edge of the diaper in the pic above.
I'll be popping these into the post tomorrow morning for a really quick turnaround time, since I only got the order this afternoon. I don't know about you, but when I order something, I really wish I could have it YESTERDAY. Little James won't have to wait toooo long!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the pics. Off to work on the giveaway handbag!

MONOGRAMMED BIB GIVEAWAY!!!

I finished the burp cloths and bibs today...at least the first batch of 6. I actually made each bib to match a burp cloth because...well, because I could, I suppose. Not that I expect the baby to be using the matching items at each feeding, LOL!

Still not stellar photography, but at least the colors are closer to accurate. Have you EVER seen anything as cute as the ladybug alphabet in the photo above? I just LOVE that font! The ribbon on the matching ladybug burp cloth is actually two ribbons - I sewed a thinner red ribbon to a wider black one and sewed them both down together. And the bib on the right has rickrack sewn around the neck. What's more fun on baby stuff than RICKRACK?!

In the pic above, the Z burp cloth also has a double ribbon - a hot pink dotted one is sewn to a wider black one (the black one is a little bit hard to see with the dark background.) I was so excited when I found that hot pink dotted ribbon- Zoey's momma loves pink and black!

Below are some pics of the bibs alone. I'm going to put individual pics of the bibs and the burp cloths into my Etsy store so they will be available to custom-order. Hopefully, I'll get the pics done and put the items in my store tomorrow. And just so the fellas don't feel left out, I'll be adding some more BOYISH-looking designs, too! Already picked up some cute ribbons and some different-colored bibs.

So in honor of my new blog, I'm going to have my first giveaway! Do you have a special baby in your life or do you know someone who's expecting? If you're the winner of my giveaway, you will receive your choice (color and style) of a custom-monorgrammed/embroidered baby bib for your little one. Leave a comment on THIS POST to let me know you would like to enter the bib giveaway. I will number the comments and use a random number generator (probably on Sunday night) to choose a winner. If the drawing is held on Sunday, I will announce the winner on Monday!

OH, and don't forget to check in tomorrow for my first FUN DAY SUNDAY! (Yes, I know tomorrow is not Sunday, LOL. I'm giving busy moms and dads time to gather materials for the weekend.) Here's a hint...this week's activity involves two things kids love...books and FOOD!

GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED!!
