OOPS, Did I Really Say That?! Part One

So the NBA players are suing the NBA for...are you ready...SIX BILLION DOLLARS in damages. DAMAGES, as in, when someone gets hurt, they can sue for damages. If the players win, they get SIX BILLION DOLLARS.

Six BILLION dollars is hard to imagine. Let me put it into perspective for you:

Six BILLION dollars makes the philanthropist who donated $100 million to the Mayo Clinic for cancer research sound like a cheapskate. After all, he donated 98.4% LESS than the NBA players will get if they win.
And the philanthropist who donated $25 million to tiny Thiel college in Pennsylvania...well, that's just a drop in the bucket at FOUR-TENTHS of ONE PERCENT of what the players will receive.Virginia's education budget was cut by $550 million dollars last year - chump change for the NBA players to make up at only 9% of what they will receive...right??

So what's the OOPS quote??
Here. It's by the NBA players' attorney, David Boies.

Boies said at the players' association headquarters,

"They(the NBA owners) did a terrific job of taking a very hard line and pushing the players to make concession after concession after concession, but greed is not only a terrible thing -- it's a dangerous thing."

Wait...is Boies really calling the OWNERS greedy?! I'm glad his PLAYERS arent' greedy!!

Oh, and PS, Mr. Boies - if you win the suit, drop a bug in your players' ears about Virginia's cut in the education budget. Maybe they could donate a couple thousand dollars so that my school can replace the 12 computers in the computer lab that no longer work.
Heck...if they can't swing that much of a donation, our school will even settle for two-ply toilet paper.

Things I Don't Understand, Part Two

Hobbies where the best
you can hope for
is to not die.

This is my hobby and it's
enough excitement for me.
Usually I don't feel like I'm in
imminent danger of death.Although sometimes Foster gets tired of me moving him and he bites me.And I did actually sew through my own finger once.
CLICK HERE TO READ THE GORY DETAILS

But usually, my hobby is relaxing and fun.
And when I'm done, I have something to show for it besides being dead.

These just don't look either fun OR relaxing.

They just look like death waiting to happen.

Am I right?

Stuff that Makes Me Mad, Part One

RIDICULOUS SALARIES

Average police officer's
annual salary: $48,210
They risk their lives daily,
to save the lives of innocent people. If you divide by 365 days in a year,
that's $132 a day.

Average elementary school teacher's
annual salary: $40,063
We teach kids to read. And write. And do math.
And, increasingly, how to be
a productive citizen
(since a lot of kids are getting
less of that at home.)Divided by 365, that's $109 a day.

Average NBA player's
annual salary: $5,150,000.
They're paid to play 82 games a year.
They're paid to play games.That's $14,109 a day.

And they're on strike because
their salary might drop by 5%.

Poor things will only be left with
$4,892,500 per year.

Only $14,000 more
per day than teachers.

How will they live on only
$59,664 per game?

Do they realize that they will still
make more for ONE of their 82 games
than a police officer or a teacher
makes for an ENTIRE YEAR?

Aren't they embarrassed to be
mad about that salary cut?

I know they have
special athletic talents
that most people don't have.I get that.

But how many lives
have they saved?

How many kids
have they taught to read?

Thanks, Linda! and OH GEEZ NOW WHAT!?

Thanks to my great friend, Linda, for sending the following pictures!

I actually think this idea is pretty ingenious!

Electrocution in 3 2 1...Too bad it's not also by a sink.

WTF!?!

And last but not least, and NO, THIS IS NOT AVERY. Let me just say that I hope his little appendage does not LOSE CIRCULATION AND FALL OFF.

And I REALLY hope he does not grow up to be one of my kindergartners, because I can already tell that I'm not going to like his parents.

Off to sew and embroider!! Two bitty dog collars and a surprise for a friend...
